Strategic Review and Performance Improvement

Principal strategist and analyst

Description

This project was designed to assist the client to identify the cause of falling enrolments and other operational issues. The client had previously undertaken a number of measures and activities to identify the root cause of the issues in question but all attempts had failed. The project entailed the conduct of a range of cross-stakeholder focus groups to identify the key issues affecting enrolments and the probable and/or indicative causes of other organisational problems. The project successfully identified the multi-faceted root causes of the issues in question, and then developed broad corporate-wide strategies to deal with each issue.

All recommendations were adopted by the controlling Board of Management of the school and included:
• The redefinition of the core objectives for the School
• Establishment of a Middle School
• Development of core themes and foci for each level of the School
• Establishment of the position of Associate Principal to improve operations
• Establishment of a multi-disciplinary committee to define the core elements of the School from a curricula and extra-curricula perspective.
• Establishment of various multi-disciplinary committees to deal with promotions, marketing, idea development and conflict resolution.
• Introduction of scholarship programs
• Increase of the School's profile in the community
• Introduction of curricula and resource sharing with external bodies
• Introduction of a busing service for students
• Steam-lining of curricula themes and assurance of subject continuity for students throughout their schooling.

Reports from the client eight months after the completion of the project are indicating that all recommendations are fulfilling the expectations held of them and that enrolments have commenced to increase. The project was completed months ahead of schedule and well under budget.

Description

Brief was to understand the market (drivers), and to develop promotional and educational campaign to change driver and pre-driver behaviour. Four significant milestones were achieved within this process:
• Program developed was the first "0.05" campaign.
• Research undertaken was instrumental in campaigning for Victoria seat belt legislation.
• The first systematic research undertaken in Victoria to match road death type and alcohol usage. Since this groundbreaking research, the Government has undertaken the research on a systematic and continuous basis.
• Development of education campaign to change and modify consumer (driver) behaviour leading to presentations undertaken at 70 schools to over 7000 students
